Score policy
Oxford publishes no LNAT threshold. Its admissions report shows how the two LNAT marks were used for the 2026-entry shortlist.
The essay
The essay tests written communication as part of the LNAT required for all Oxford undergraduate law degrees.

Score policy
UCL sets an annual benchmark threshold after reviewing previous applicant scores; no score guarantees an offer.

An Admissions Tutor marks the essay; it carries considerable weight in selection.

LSE

LLB Bachelor of Laws (M100)

Is the LNAT required?
Required for all applicants to LLB M100.
Score policy
No set minimum score. The multiple-choice result forms part of holistic assessment and can distinguish similarly qualified applicants.
The essay
Usually only Section A is used; LSE reserves the right to assess essays for all applicants. The essay is used instead of UGAA for LLB applicants with qualifications that would otherwise require UGAA.

What is a good LNAT score?

There is no pass mark. The clearest published figures are UCL's: a mean of 23 across all results it received and 30 for offer holders (2025/26). Oxford's admissions report gives 24.94 for all applicants and 30.48 for those who received an offer (2025-26 round). These are averages, not cutoffs.

Can I convert a practice LNAT score into a real one?

No. The LNAT publishes no conversion from third-party practice tests, and a paper you have seen before will overstate your level. Use a first attempt at an official practice test as the fairest rehearsal.

Do universities read the LNAT essay?

Most do, in different ways. UCL says the essay carries considerable weight; Bristol and Durham assess it alongside the score; LSE usually uses Section A only. Each card above shows the university's own wording.
