8 Section B answers, each with its plan and a note on every paragraph.
- Should a terminally ill adult have the legal right to help in ending their life?Yes, within strict limits: the right should exist, and the safeguards are where the argument is won or lost.
- Should the law allow adults to consent to sports, such as boxing, whose purpose is to injure?Yes: competent adults may accept serious risks, and the law should regulate boxing rather than ban it.
- Is it right to use animals in medical research if it may save human lives?Yes, but only when no alternative exists and the suffering is kept to the minimum the research needs.
- Will automation and artificial intelligence make society more unequal?Yes, unless governments act: the technology does not decide the outcome, but left alone its gains flow to those who own it.
- Should internet access be free for everyone?A basic level should be free for those who cannot afford it, because modern life now assumes it; unlimited access for all need not be.
- Should university education be paid for by the state?Largely yes, but through general taxation rather than by every graduate repaying a fixed price, because the benefits are shared.
- Should unpaid internships be banned?Yes, for real work: if an intern is doing a job, they should be paid for it, because unpaid work rations opportunity by family wealth.
- Should there be a compulsory retirement age?No, as a general rule: people should be judged on their ability, not their age, with narrow exceptions where the risk is high and testing is hard.
