LNAT tutor or course: what helps with reading and the essay?
The LNAT tests two skills: reading an argument closely and writing one of your own. Reading improves with timed passages and explanations of why each wrong option is wrong. The essay improves with feedback on a draft and a rewrite. A tutor helps most with the essay, if you want a person to read it. Check your university's deadline first: for some it is 31 December 2026.

Passage
Supporters of congestion charges say that a fee for driving into a city centre at busy times cuts traffic and pays for better public transport. Critics reply that a flat charge falls hardest on drivers with low incomes.
This objection is weaker than it first appears. People on low incomes are more likely to travel into city centres by bus than by car, so if the money raised is spent on buses, the charge moves resources towards them rather than away. The defence holds only on that condition, however. A charge whose revenue disappears into a council's general budget answers none of the critics' concerns.

Background is very important and universities should definitely consider it. Some people have more advantages than others and this is unfair. Therefore universities should take this into account so that everyone gets a fair chance, which is what university admissions should be about.

- "More advantages" is vague: which ones?
- No other side, so nothing is weighed.
Universities should consider background, because grades measure what a student achieved and also the help they had. A student who reached A grades in a school with few specialist teachers may have shown more ability than one who reached the same grades with private tuition. The strongest objection is that this is unfair to the second student, who also worked hard. But admissions already estimate potential rather than reward past effort; context makes that estimate more accurate, not less fair.
