Method
- In the eleven passport-only countries (including Hong Kong, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore and mainland China), only a current signed passport is accepted.
- Elsewhere, three documents are accepted: a current signed passport (unsigned only if it is a biometric type with no space to sign), a current signed photocard driving licence, or a current identity card issued by the government of the test centre's country with your photo and signature.
- UK Home Office ID cards are accepted only if you contact the LNAT administrator at least two weeks before your test; we count 14 days back from your test date.
- Without an accepted document, UK, Australian and New Zealand candidates can bring an official school or college letter in the published format. Elsewhere there is no fallback.
- Your first and last names must match the ID exactly. The LNAT publishes no list of accepted variations.
Uncertainty and limits
- Every rule is quoted from lnat.ac.uk on the checked date. Pearson VUE's own guidance applies to documents such as Aadhaar cards in India.
- The LNAT gives no working-day rule for Home Office cards, only 'at least two weeks', so we count calendar days.

What the answer means
The answer says whether this document gets you into the LNAT under the Consortium's written rules, and what to do if not. It cannot approve an unusual document: contact the LNAT administrator for that, well before your test.
LNAT accepted identification, as published
Bring the document with your Pearson VUE confirmation email. Your first or given name and your last or family name must match exactly as they appear on the ID presented. If there is not an exact match, you will not be able to take your test and you will not be reimbursed for any fees paid.

Questions people ask
What ID do I need for the LNAT?
Your Pearson VUE confirmation email (on your phone or on paper) and one photo ID: a current signed passport, a current signed photocard driving licence, or a current government ID card from the test centre's country with your photo and signature. In eleven countries, including Hong Kong, Singapore and Pakistan, only a passport is accepted.
Can I use an expired passport for the LNAT?
No. The LNAT says out-of-date passports will not be accepted at the test centre, and there is no exception route.
Is a CitizenCard or provisional licence accepted for the LNAT?
A provisional photocard driving licence is accepted if it is current and signed. UK Citizencards, photocopies and digital IDs are not accepted.
I don't have a passport or driving licence. Can I still sit the LNAT?
At UK, Australian and New Zealand test centres, yes: bring an official letter from your school or college, signed by the head or deputy, with your passport-sized photo glued on, your signature, and the official stamp overlapping both. Outside those countries, you need one of the accepted documents.
What happens if my ID is not accepted at the LNAT?
You cannot sit the test. You must book and pay for a new slot on another day, and a bursary does not cover the rebooking.
Does my name have to match exactly for the LNAT?
Yes. Your first or given name and your last or family name must match the ID exactly. If they do not, you cannot take the test and fees are not reimbursed.
