How we estimate

Scope, source, method, uncertainty, dates and what the answer can and cannot tell you.

What it covers

Your LNAT multiple-choice score (Section A, 0 to 42) against the LNAT averages universities have published in admissions reports or released under Freedom of Information: Oxford 2021-22 to 2025-26, Cambridge by college for the 2025 application year, UCL M100 2022-23 to 2024-25, King's 2021-22 by programme, LSE 2020-21 and 2021-22, and Durham 2021-22 and 2022-23.

Sources

Method

  1. For each university we take its latest dated offer-holder average and subtract it from your score. 27 against Oxford's 2025-26 offer-holder average of 30.48 is 3.5 marks below.
  2. The headline counts how many of those latest averages your score is at or above. Cambridge is not in the count unless you pick a college, because it published 29 college averages without candidate numbers, so no Cambridge-wide figure exists.
  3. Older rounds, other groups (all applicants, shortlisted, contextual offers) and published lowest and highest scores are shown as extra rows, never merged with the headline.
  4. Bristol, Glasgow and SOAS publish no comparable average, so they are listed as having none rather than borrowing another university's figure.

Uncertainty and limits

  • The averages come from different years (2021-22 to 2025-26) and describe different groups. A King's 2021-22 average and an Oxford 2025-26 average are not the same measurement.
  • Most FOI releases give no number of candidates, so we cannot say how spread out offer holders were, except where a range was printed (Oxford 2022-23 offers: 19 to 38).
  • UCL's FAQ gives 30 overall and 27 for contextual offers "in the last academic cycle" without naming the year; we keep that wording.
  • A practice score has not been through the LNAT's equating, so comparing one with these averages is only a rough guide.

What the answer means

The answer tells you where your score sits against people who received offers in past years. It is not a cut-off, a pass mark or a chance of an offer. Universities weigh GCSEs, predicted grades, the essay and context too, and several say they have no minimum LNAT score.

Every published LNAT average we found

Questions people ask

What LNAT score do I need for Oxford?

Oxford sets no minimum. In the 2025-26 round its 252 offer holders averaged 30.48 in the multiple-choice section, against 24.94 for all 2,115 applicants. In 2022-23 offer holders scored anywhere from 19 to 38.

What LNAT score do I need for UCL?

UCL publishes averages, not a cut-off. Its FOI release gives M100 offer-holder averages of 29.5, 29.9 and 29.4 for 2022-23 to 2024-25. Its FAQ gives 30 overall and 27 for contextual offers in its last cycle.

What is a good LNAT score for King's or LSE?

King's Law offer holders averaged 27 in the 2022 cycle (rounded). LSE's offer holders averaged 25.52 for 2022 entry and 26 the year before. Neither is a minimum.

Why is there no single Cambridge average?

Cambridge released an average and range for each of its 29 colleges but no candidate numbers, so the colleges cannot be combined into one fair figure. Pick a college to compare with its own average.
